WordPress gives their users the ability to simply insert and edit all types of images like JPG, PNG, and GIF to the website posts and pages.
Wordpress users can easily align and modify them without using photoshop.
Having precise data and quality content on a website is necessary but having images or pictures is also important for a good design.
It also makes peoples spend more time on your website.
Through this tutorial, I am explaining step by step procedure of inserting and editing images in WordPress.
Open the dashboard of your WordPress site (example.com/wp-admin), create a new entry and write the text you want to add. Then, go to the “Upload / Insert” tab and click on “Add object” A window will appear with the option to choose the photos to upload, or drag them one by one.
Then, when selecting the uploaded image, there will be options to add title, alternative text (ALT), legend, description, and URL attached. It is possible to choose the alignment of the image and the size in which we want to see it in the entry and then click on “Insert in the entry”.
If you do not have your own images, it is also possible to add photos from an external URL, which are images hosted on other websites, although it will always be better to have a set of original photos, these are much better valued by users
When we have several images uploaded, there is the option to create a gallery. For this, in the same window where the photos are uploaded, click on the “Gallery” tab, which will display all available photos to select the ones that we want.
There will be an option to link those photos to image files, or to a page of attachments in the same site. Then, they can be ordered and align according to menu order, date, title and in ascending or descending form and finally, add the columns that are necessary.
Optimization of images:
Image optimization is important for SEO and it is also good for the nice appearance of the website. The first thing to do for this purpose is, before uploading the photos, change the name. Remove all the strange characters and replace them with keywords according to the photo, separated by a hyphen.
Also, for Google to find them easily, the alternative text(Alt tag) must describe the image as it is. write your focus keyword of the article in the Alt text of the image.
Scale, cut and update:
Done all the above, we finally go to edit the image in WordPress, without the need for an external program. According to the design of the site, there will be sizes that will be better than others in the entrances.
If it is necessary to reduce the size, just go to the “Add object” tab, select the image in Multimedia Library and in the “Size” option, you can choose different dimensions (medium, miniature, large, complete). Now, if you want to customize the size, then you have to go up a bit and click on “Edit”.
First, there is the option to scale the image, according to the dimensions that we have defined before; this will always be done by keeping the proportions of the photo so that it does not stretch or shrink with deformed appearance.
Next, you must click on the “Update” button on the right side and in this way, when you return to the Multimedia Library, you will no longer say “Edit”, but “Update”. Now, if it is necessary to cut it, you can also select the area you want and then click on the cut icon.
